Week 1, The Final Word Is Better Than Angels

Welcome!

I wanted to pass along something I’ve been working on as an additional way to get into God’s word. I’ve put together a 5 day devotional for you to be able to go through with your families, neighbors, and people at work. My hope in doing this is that it would be blessing to you and that you would grow in your love for the Gospel of Jesus. My goal is to be able to provide a devotional every week throughout our study in Hebrews.

God bless,
Pastor Carlos Montoya
Day 1 – A God Who Speaks

  • Scripture: Hebrews 1:1
  • Reflection: God is not silent or distant. Throughout history, He spoke in many ways through the prophets, revealing His will and pointing His people toward hope. Our faith begins not with our questions, but with God’s initiative to speak.
  • Gospel Connection: All prior revelation prepared the way for something greater—God’s ultimate Word.
  • Reflection Question: How does knowing God desires to speak to us shape the way you approach Scripture?
  • Prayer: “God, thank You for revealing Yourself. Help me to listen attentively to Your Word. Amen.”
Day 2 – God’s Final Word: Jesus

  • Scripture: Hebrews 1:2a
  • Reflection: In Jesus, God did not simply send another message—He sent His Son. Jesus is God’s final and clearest revelation. To know Jesus is to know God.
  • Gospel Connection: The Gospel proclaims that God’s ultimate Word is not judgment, but salvation through Christ.
  • Reflection Question: What voices compete with Jesus for authority in your life?
  • Prayer: “Father, help me to listen to Your Son above every other voice. Amen.”
Day 3 – Lord Over All

  • Scripture: Hebrews 1:2b
  • Reflection: Jesus is both Creator and heir of all things. History begins with Him and ends with Him. Nothing is outside His authority or care.
  • Gospel Connection: The One who owns everything gave Himself for sinners.
  • Reflection Question: Where is God calling you to trust Christ’s authority rather than your own control?
  • Prayer: “Jesus, You are Lord of all. Teach me to surrender my life fully to You. Amen.”
Day 4 – God Revealed Perfectly

  • Scripture: Hebrews 1:3a
  • Reflection: Jesus is the radiance of God’s glory and the exact imprint of His nature. If we want to see what God is truly like—His holiness, love, mercy, and truth—we look to Christ.
  • Gospel Connection: At the cross, God’s justice and mercy shine together in perfect glory.
  • Reflection Question: How does Jesus shape your understanding of God’s character?
  • Prayer: “Thank You, God, for revealing Yourself through Jesus. Help me trust Your heart. Amen.”
Day 5 – A Finished Salvation

  • Scripture: Hebrews 1:3b
  • Reflection: Jesus made purification for sins and then sat down—His work is complete. There is nothing left to earn and nothing left to prove. Salvation rests entirely on Christ’s finished work.
  • Gospel Connection: Because Jesus finished the work, we can rest in grace.
  • Reflection Question: In what ways do you struggle to rest in what Christ has already done?
  • Prayer: “Jesus, thank You that my salvation is secure in You. Help me live in the freedom of Your finished work. Amen.”
