Ignite Student Minstry

Ignite Student Ministry exist to ignite a passion in our youth to know God, know each other, and live on mission.

Know God

Ignite Student Ministry prioritizes our time studying God's Word.  We believe the most important part of our ministry is grounding our students in truth and knowledge of the Bible.  Each week, we devote an hour of our meeting time to Bible study.  We dedicate time each week to prayer as well, allowing the students to share their needs and pray for each other.  We also have quarterly prayer and worship nights where parents and students come together to worship God through music, teaching, and prayer.

Know Each Other

Live on Mission

Ignite Student Ministry provides a space for our students to meet each week and grow in their relationship with each other.  We believe our students need each other for support and encouragement as they seek to follow Jesus in their every day life.  Our weekly meeting times include sharing a meal together and playing games that allow for our students to get to know one another and have fun together each week.  We seek to create additional opportunities as often as possible, some regular events we have are our annual New Year's Eve lock-in, our Summer Kick-Off Party, City-Wide Youth Synchs with other Santa Fe churches, Spring Break Retreat, and guys and girls nights.
The students of Ignite Student Ministry spend a significant time serving at our church, in our city, and beyond.  We believe that the Great Commission Jesus provided us with in Matthew 28 applies to our students today and that they grow immensely in their own relationship with Jesus as they step out in faith and trust God and do hard things.  We help out with cleaning and construction projects at Blaze.  We help local non-profits such as Desert Rose Women's Resource Center and Santa Fe Christian school serving as bussers and servers at their events.  We make meals and put together care packages and distribute to the homeless.  We take an annual mission trip each year to another state or another country where we join and serve with local charities for a week.

Meet the team.

Angelicque Baca

I am Angelicque Baca blessed to be the wife of Jerry Baca for 12 years. We are a blended family blessed with 4 girls 3 son in laws and one in the making and a beautiful granddaughter. I am born and raised in our beautiful 'city of faith' Santa Fe NM, grew up on yummy homemade tortillas, beans and fresh green chile. My favorite book of the Bible is the Bible because all Scripture is inspired by God and is useful for teaching, correcting, and training in righteousness, so that a person of God may be complete and thoroughly equipped for every good work 2 Timothy 3:16-17, it is the greatest love story ever written and the best news ever!
So grateful to be in fellowship at Blaze and to serve through God's grace our youth brethren and community, in Christ's love.

Ang Chavez

Hi, my name is Angelique (Ange). Born and raised in beautiful Santa Fe, New Mexico. I have been blessed with the powerful testimony and how Christ has worked in my life. I have been married to my husband, Salvador Chavez for 27 years. We have two incredible children. I am a stay at home wife and a full-time caretaker of both of our children. I have found strength in the inspiring miracles of Jesus Christ throughout the book of Mark, which have guided me through some of the most challenging moments of my life.

Laura Girdner

Hello!  My name is Laura Girdner and I am very thankful to be part of the youth ministry at Blaze Christian Fellowship!  I first moved to Santa Fe, NM  from Bedford, NY in 2000. After living in Seattle, WA for 4 years, my husband and I moved back to spread the Gospel and serve the good people of Santa Fe.  Matthew and I have been married for 22 years and have 4 children, Grace and Abigail who are currently studying nursing at Grand Canyon University in Phoenix, AZ; our 15 year old son Jonah and our 11 year old son Simon. Our youth are capable of great things and we have seen God do wonders through them.  I am excited to see what God has in store for the youth of Santa Fe!

Matthew Girdner

Hi everyone!  My name is Matthew Girdner and I grew up in Santa Fe and graduated from Capital High. I have been been married to my beautiful wife and love of my life Laura for 22 years and we have 4 children. In addition to youth ministry, I serve on the Worship Team playing the bass and on the Communications Team providing Graphic Design. I have been blessed to serve in the Youth Ministry for the past 5 years and I love going on mission trips and watching our students grow in their faith.

Alex Martinez

Alex grew up in San Antonio, Texas and moved to Santa Fe in September 2013. Here, he met his wife and love of his life, Julie, and they have 3 amazing and rambunctious boys together. He is a computer programmer who loves playing drums and drinking coffee. Blaze became his home church in 2014, where he now oversees the worship and communications ministries.

Julie Martinez

Julie Martinez has literally lost count of all the places she’s lived in her life. But she finally put down roots in Santa Fe after meeting her husband, Alex (at Blaze!) Self-proclaimed as an ‘old soul’, she enjoys gardening, quilting, and journaling (on actual paper). Raising three little boys keeps her young (or accelerates her aging, depending on the day). They are the biggest blessings though. Julie has always loved kids and been passionate about reaching the next generation with the good news of Jesus.

Isaiah Montoya

My name is Isaiah Montoya, and as of November 17, 2025, I am 19 years old. I am currently pursuing my career as an apprentice electrician, dedicated to mastering my craft and building a strong foundation for my future. I am unmarried and have no children at this time. As a proud New Mexican, I hold a deep appreciation for the rich flavors of our regional cuisine. My favorite dish is difficult to choose, as it lies somewhere between the savory warmth of a chicharrón burrito and the comforting indulgence of a well-stuffed Christmas sopapilla.
I am so grateful and excited to be a part of ignite student ministries!!! I attended ignite, when I was an adolescent, and I was so inspired and shaped by the leaders, who had a genuine love for Jesus. Who helped me come into my own faith, As a young man.
